The cheapest way to give your employees a doctor in New York

The cheapest way to put a real doctor in front of every employee is a direct primary care membership: $79 a month at AMG Medical Group in Midtown, $135 a month at Huntington Direct Primary Care on Long Island, all in. That buys unlimited visits, same-day appointments and the doctor's cell number. A group plan costs about $657 a month in employer share and the employee still can't see anyone until they've paid $2,631 out of pocket. Telehealth subscriptions are cheaper but don't give anyone a doctor they can walk in and see.

How it works

1You set a budget

Pick a max per employee for a doctor and a dentist. The page shows which local practices fit.

2Each employee picks

They choose their own doctor and dentist from that list. No network cards, no claims.

3One invoice a month

Itemized per person. You pay what each person actually picked. Start or stop any month.

Common questions

Why is DPC so much cheaper than insurance?

The practice doesn't bill insurance, so it doesn't need the staff, the coding or the claims denials. It charges a flat fee and sees fewer patients, longer.

Is $79 a month really unlimited visits?

AMG's Basic tier includes unlimited visits with a $29 charge for sick visits. The other practices on the list include sick visits in the membership. Each practice's terms are shown before anyone picks.

What's the catch?

It's primary care only. Hospitalization, surgery and specialists aren't included, so most companies pair it with a catastrophic plan or just accept that it covers the 80% of healthcare that happens in a doctor's office.

Can I just pay the practice directly without Upsurance?

You can, one practice at a time, with each one's own enrollment and billing. Upsurance is how you let ten employees pick ten different practices and get one invoice.
